Cathay Pacific Airways, named “Best Trans-Pacific Airline” in the 2015 annual Skytrax World Airline Awards™, has appointed Philippe Lacamp to senior vice president, Americas. In this role, he will oversee all facets of Cathay Pacific’s operations and commercial activities in the Americas, and will be based in the company’s U.S. headquarters in San Francisco.
Lacamp joined Cathay Pacific Airway’s parent company, Swire, in 1992 and has held a wide range of positions within the group. Most recently, he was Head of Sustainable Development for Swire Pacific and John Swire & Sons, covering a range of industries including aviation, shipping and marine services, property development, beverages and agri-business. In that role he established a unit investing in bio-tech companies and also ran Swire Waste Management Ltd, a joint venture with Waste Management Inc, as part of the Swire group.
“The Americas team is renowned for their service excellence, innovation and dedication to our customers,” said Lacamp. “With the tremendous growth experienced by Cathay Pacific in the Americas over the past few years – adding four new cargo and three passenger routes, increasing frequencies into two ports and expanding into Mexico – I am thrilled to join the team at such an exciting juncture.”
Lacamp started his aviation career in Cathay Pacific’s Information Technology department in Hong Kong. He has also held positions in sales, international affairs, inflight services, and corporate risk management. Lacamp served as Cathay Pacific Country Manager, Sri Lanka & Maldives in the late 1990s and Country Manager, France, Spain & Portugal from 2001 to 2004. He moved to Vancouver in 2004 as Vice President Canada, overseeing all Cathay Pacific business and operations in Vancouver and Toronto until 2008. From 2008 to 2010 he was tasked with establishing the Corporate Risk Management department, overseeing compliance, insurance, risk and legal services.
Born and educated in the United Kingdom, Philippe graduated from Durham University. He is married with two children.
