The 20 planes will include a Boeing 787, six Boeing 737s for Air India Express and 13 ATR aircraft to improve regional connectivity.

Air India Ltd will add 20 planes to its feet in the coming fiscal year to expand its international and regional footprint, a spokesperson said on Monday.

The airline, together with its subsidiaries, has a fleet of 135 aircraft—the largest in India.

The 20 planes will include a Boeing 787, six Boeing 737s for Air India Express and 13 ATR aircraft to improve regional connectivity.

The airline has expanded its international footprint over the past few years, inducting dozens of long-haul planes from a previous $11 billion order.

The state-run airline currently connects 103 cities.

“The airline offers 70,000 seats per day on an average on its network, which is the highest amongst all Indian carriers,” an airline spokesperson said.

Air India is also set to add Vienna as its 104th destination to its network from 6 April 2016, the spokesperson added.

The non-stop service from Delhi will operate thrice a week on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays with a Boeing 787 aircraft.
