A Chinese traveler surnamed Liu has planned to travel from Fuzhou to Kathmandu, Nepal via Guangzhou and booked a ticket for October 15. However, he was informed Tuesday by China Southern Airlines (CZ) that his flight, numbered CZ3067, from Guangzhou to Kathmandu was suspended.

It is learned that the Guangzhou-based carrier has cancelled its flights from Guangzhou to Kathmandu from October 12 to 24, stating that it was not able to fly without refueling at Kathmandu's Tribhuvan International Airport (KTM).

The airline has planned to cancel more than 30 flights. The involved flights are CZ3067/3068 from October 12 and CZ6067/6068 from October 17, the second round of flight cancellation to Nepal.

China Southern is waving fees for customers changing their flights to Nepal.

China Southern has cancelled its flights from Guangzhou-Kathmandu-Guangzhou from September 29 to October 10 due to jet fuel problem in Nepal, the airline said on its Facebook page.

Besides China Southern, other Chinese airlines, including Air China (CA) and Dragonair (KA), have suspended flights to Nepal for a temporary period.

The airport authority has barred foreign carriers to refuel at Tribhuvan International Airport from September 29 as jet fuel crisis is likely to deepen on the heels of the unofficial trade embargo imposed by India.
