Wuhan Tianhe International Airport  (WUH)'s new air traffic control (ATC) tower has been capped the day before the National Day on Oct.1, news reported from the construction site of the airport's phase-3 project.

Functioning as the airport's eye, ATC tower is responsible for directing airplanes, handling emergency situations and issuing control instructions. With 22 stories above ground and 1 floor underground, the new ATC tower of Wuhan airport will lead other airports domestically and rank the 2nd in Asia.

Meanwhile, Wuhan airport's 2th runway ground surface is being paved and will be put into service in June, 2016. By that time Wuhan airport will serve 60 aircraft takeoffs and landings per hour from 33 currently during peak hours.

Wuhan airport's Terminal 3 has been under construction. It's estimated to be capped by year end.

By the end of 2016, phase-3 facilities of Wuhan airport will start service. Owning two runways, the airport class will be the highest 4F within Central China, and will strive to rank the 4th largest airport in China.
