According to Airbus Corporate Jets’ latest industry insight, based on feedback from 280 business aviation financiers and brokers globally, governments and public sector organisations are increasingly turning to business aviation for both aircraft acquisition and charter services. Research commissioned by Airbus Corporate Jets reveals that governments and public sector agencies are increasingly turning to business aviation, driven by a complex geopolitical landscape and a growing need for secure, flexible, and dependable air mobility solutions.
As global diplomatic activity intensifies, business aircraft are playing an expanding role beyond traditional executive travel. Today, they are being deployed for a wide range of government missions, including diplomatic transport, crisis management, humanitarian operations, medical evacuations, and repatriation efforts. For many public sector operators, these aircraft have evolved into mission-critical assets, offering the responsiveness, versatility, and operational reliability required to address complex challenges at short notice.
Chadi Saade, President of Airbus Corporate Jets commented: “The findings demonstrate just how significantly the role of business aviation is evolving within government. The current geopolitical environment has increased the need for governments to be able to move people quickly, securely and reliably, often at short notice and into challenging operating environments. For our government customers, an aircraft is much more than a transport solution. It can become a mission-critical tool supporting diplomacy, humanitarian assistance, medical evacuation, repatriation and crisis response. The combination of range, reliability, flexibility and the ability to configure an aircraft for different missions is becoming increasingly important. Furthermore, in consideration of their taxpayers and budgetary constraints, these customers are eager to minimise acquisition and operating costs. This is where the ACJ’s airliner DNA plays a significant role in keeping costs to a minimum and maximising productivity of these assets thanks to their exceptional reliability.”
Key insights:
Germany’s Special Air Mission Wing relies on a versatile fleet of 18 aircraft, including ACJ319, A321neo and ACJ350 models, to provide strategic air mobility for senior government officials. By ensuring reliable and timely transport for political leaders, the Wing supports critical decision-making and strengthens Germany’s international diplomatic engagement.
In Slovakia, the Government Flight Service’s “Flight and Shelter” module operates two ACJ319 aircraft that are central to the nation’s state, humanitarian and emergency response missions. The fleet enables rapid deployment for rescue operations, humanitarian assistance and governmental transport, highlighting the growing role of business aviation in public service and crisis management.
