Whether it is shuttling between different time zones or bearing the responsibility of so many lives while flying, everything about a pilot’s life is tough. Thank goodness for smartphones and apps as the right app can make life simpler and easier for them. Numerous companies have been working on apps that cater specifically to pilots and aviator?
We have made a list of few that we found to be most useful, check them out.
1. Flightradar24
With this app, you can turn your smartphone or tablet into an air traffic radar. Much like Uber, which shows cabs on a map and where all of them are in real time, this app shows you where all the flights are. You can pick any location in the world and see what planes are flying there. In the paid version of the app, you can save your favourite locations and receive notifications about flights too.
2. E6B+
This app lets you do basic conversions like Celsius to Fahrenheit, Statute miles to Nautical miles, Inches of Hg to Milibars, etc. You can also calculate wind speed and direction, true airspeed, runway crosswinds, fuel consumption, heat index, density altitude, and other calculations useful for flying. This is a must have app for aviators.
3. Metar Weather Map
The app will give you information about over 4,000 airports in the world. All you have to do is type the name of the airport in the search bar. The app will then give you the basic weather information about it like wind, temperature and visibility, runaway visual range, etc. Other than this, it also gives you various forecasts and information like weather history, arrivals and departures et al.
4. Smart Logbook
This app is a must have for all pilots. After adding some essential information, it lets you record your entire flight and then retrieve the data from CloudAhoy servers after the flight is over. So you can literally relive your entire flight. The app also lets you watch the taken flight path it in 3D mode.
