Saskatchewan Polytechnic has acquired an ALX flight simulator to further enhance its flight training program. The new simulator will be located at the institution’s campus in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. Saskatchewan Polytechnic has already been operating AL250 and AL200 simulators. The ALSIM ALX provides up to 4 classes of aircraft from single-engine piston, twin engine piston, twin turbine up to medium category twin jet. The device is designed and approved for ATPL, CPL, and MCC in compliance with all current regulatory standards. The ALX offers advanced technology simulation equipment tailored to all specific training requirements. In addition, it has a proven track record for cost-effectiveness and helps save numerous aircraft hours.

Dr.Larry Rosia, Saskatchewan Polytechnic president and CEO commented: “We are grateful for PrairiesCan’s investment in our Commercial Pilot program, enabling us to purchase the ALSIM ALX flight simulator. This investment is instrumental in providing our students with cutting-edge and innovative equipment, enabling them to gain the skills and experience necessary for successful careers in aviation. Thank you for supporting current students, future students and the advancement of education.”

Reed Willison, Saskatchewan Polytechnic Commercial Pilot program head and instructor stated:  “Modern simulators, like the ALSIM ALX, offer highly realistic environments with advanced technology that replicates the look and feel of an actual cockpit. With this new flight simulator students can experience various weather conditions, turbulence and other flight challenges in a controlled setting. This ALSIM ALX is particularly useful learning complex tasks that require a steep learning curve, like engine failure on takeoff, flying under high wind conditions and working as a team in an emergency. Thank you to PrairiesCan for investing in our Commercial Pilot program.”

This second simulator will provide many years of high quality, effective training. Simulators allow for repeated practice of specific maneuvers and procedures, helping students quickly improve and perfect their skills.

Jason DA COSTA, Business Development and Sales Manager - North America, said: “It is an honor to have been selected, once again, by Saskatchewan Polytechnic for the opportunity to provide their Commercial pilot diploma program with the ALSIM-state of the art, ALX flight training device. The ALSIM ALX is a reconfigurable flight training device that allows for a varied range of aircraft to be simulated. From single engine piston, twin turbine and medium category light jet. The ALX is a comprehensive training device that can take a pilot all the way to a type rating and provides excellent preparation for airline readiness. With 7 different flight models and fully Transport Canada approved, the ALX gives an outstanding return on investment. ALSIM’s continued partnership with Saskatchewan Polytechnic reinforces our commitment to providing the highest level of flight training excellence in collaboration with a leading Canadian aviation college.”
