Aeroflot and Saudia, the flag carriers and largest airlines in Russia and Saudi Arabia respectively, announce that they have entered a codeshare agreement that expands their networks between popular business and leisure destinations in the two countries.

The new codeshare flights are now available for purchase for flights starting from August 1, 2015. Subject to regulatory approval, Aeroflot will place Saudia SV code on codeshare services on the following routes: Moscow — Cairo — Jeddah, Moscow/St. Petersburg — Istanbul — Jeddah/Riyadh, Moscow — Dubai — Riyadh. Aeroflot will also place its SU code on codeshare flights with Saudia between Jeddah — Cairo — Moscow, Jeddah/Riyadh — Istanbul — Moscow/St. Petersburg, Riyadh — Dubai — Moscow. Customers travelling between Saudi Arabia and Russia will now be able to connect seamlessly with one ticket between Russia and Saudi Arabia via Istanbul, Cairo and Dubai.

The agreement between the two airlines, both members of the SkyTeam global alliance, will strengthen the carriers’ positions in both markets and give customers greater convenience and flexibility. Passengers will benefit from simplified bookings, seamless connections on a single ticket and baggage check-through to the final destination.

Vitaly Saveliev, CEO of Aeroflot, said: «We are pleased to offer our customers a smoother and more convenient experience when travelling between Russia and Saudi Arabia, and expect this agreement will open new opportunities for passengers of Aeroflot and Saudia».

Abdul Mohsen Jonaid, CEO of Saudia, said: «We are delighted to launch this new cooperation with Aeroflot. It illustrates our Group’s strategic positioning that continuously strengthens our offer between Saudia Arabia and the rest of the world by developing our network ourselves or, like today, with strategic partners as Aeroflot. This code-share agreement with Aeroflot connects us to Russia for the first time to the benefit of our guests.»
