The Latvian airline airBaltic in October, 2017 celebrates its 22nd anniversary since the launch of commercial operations. On October 1, 1995 airBaltic operated the first commercial flight from Riga to Stockholm with the aircraft SAAB 340.

Martin Gauss, Chief Executive Officer of airBaltic: “In 22 years airBaltic has grown as a stable Baltic carrier with convenient connections, wide variety of destinations, modernized fleet and strong, professional team that every day makes maximum effort to offer our customers great and on-time flying experience. Over the years airBaltic has contributed greatly to improve the connectivity between the Baltic states and the rest of the world.”

airBaltic this year is showing record good results and we are excited for the future. In the next few years we are planning to grow further – we will replace our turboprop aircraft with completely new jet fleet that will enable us to continue our expansion of the route map. Our increased capacity, efficient aircraft and low cost base will enable airBaltic to continue growth as the No 1 Baltic carrier.”

In October, 1995 airBaltic started operations from Riga to 4 destinations. Today airBaltic operates direct flights from Riga to over 60 destinations and its fleet has grown to 30 aircraft. airBaltic offers convenient connections via Riga to its network spanning Europe, Scandinavia, the CIS and the Middle East. In addition, airBaltic also offers direct flights from Tallinn and Vilnius.
