Beijing Capital Airlines (JD), a regional subsidiary of Hainan Airlines (HU), is waiting government approval to launch a nonstop international service from Qingdao, Shandong Province to Melbourne, Australia in next July.

Pending government approval, the Beijing-based carrier will start operating the Qingdao-Melbourne service from July 1, 2016, using Airbus A330 aircraft, according to an announcement released Wednesday on the website of the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC).

The Air Transportation Department of CAAC is soliciting public comments on the application until Oct. 30, 2015.
