Spring Airlines has signed an order for 60 Airbus A320neo family aircraft.

The Chinese low-cost carrier says in a stock exchange statement that the order will be split between 45 A320neos and 15 A321neos, in a deal valued at $6.3 billion at list prices.

No engine selection was specified, and the order remains subject to approval by the Chinese government.

Spring indicates that delivery of the aircraft will take place between 2019 and 2023. It will use a combination of internal funds, bank loans and/or “funds raised [from] financing instruments” to finance the purchase.

It is not clear if the order is linked to an earlier announcement at the Paris air show, where an unnamed Asian carrier signed a memorandum of understanding for 60 A320neo aircraft.

Flightglobal’s Fleets Analyzer shows that Spring Airlines has 52 A320ceos in service, and has eight more on order.
