Universal Air announced its summer schedule with the launch of four additional new routes from its base in Malta, to Cagliari in Sardinia, Perugia in Northern Italy, Nice in France, Prague in Czechia and between Cagliari and Prague alongside its current routes to Athens and Corfu in Greece, The Balearic island of Ibiza, Palermo in Sicily, and Pécs in Hungary. Earlier this month, Universal Air launched its inaugural flight between Malta and Pécs as the airline sets new standards for air travel in the Mediterranean.
Universal Air CEO, Simon Cook, commented: "Introducing new routes is more than just adding destinations; it's about connecting cultures, facilitating business opportunities, and fostering relationships that transcend borders. For us it means meticulous planning, from ensuring the highest safety standards to optimising our fleet utilisation and enhancing customer experience. We are excited about the potential these new routes hold for leisure and business travellers, the tourism industry, and the broader economic impact for each destination."
The summer flight schedule will run from May until October with flights operating from Malta to Corfu and Palermo three times a week, with twice-weekly flights to Nice, Athens, Ibiza and Perugia and weekly flights from Malta to Cagliari and Prague and between Prague and Cagliari. Prices will start from as little as 30 Euros per seat one way from Malta to Palermo including 15kg of checked luggage and a 7kg bag allowance in the cabin.
The new routes provide direct access to many of Europe’s most exciting destinations. The blend of history and tradition brings life to the streets of Athens, making it southern Europe’s most vibrant cultural capital. Universal Air’s services will not only open tourism opportunities in Athens, but also in the local neighbourhoods of Kypseli, Neos Kosmos and Keramikos.
Flights are also available between Malta and Palermo, the capital city of Sicily, which offers visitors the perfect mix of mix of Italian architecture, cuisine and traditions. Universal Air has a strong track record within aviation having provided charter and cargo services for many years from its base at Malta International Airport. This expansion is a testament to the airline’s commitment to growth, operational excellence, and our ability to navigate the complexities of the airline industry with agility and foresight.
