Tokyo is a new destination that has just appeared on the map of LOT’s connections. It is of great importance, not only due to its potential to generate passenger traffic. It is also considered one of the key connections when it comes to mail and cargo transport. LOT Cargo has signed a cooperation agreement with JAL Cargo – one of the biggest enterprises of the sector in Japan. From now on, it will be responsible for selling cargo space on LOT’s Dreamliners, and for handling the planes on Tokyo’s Narita airport. Working together with such a strong Japanese partner guarantees that LOT will be able to establish a strong position on this dynamically growing market.

For The Polish carrier’s Dreamliners that will serve the Warsaw-Tokyo route three times a week, starting from January of next year, offer as much as 65 cubic meters of cargo space under their decks and are capable of carrying up to 15 tons of payload. The General Sales Agreement has been concluded today at the Polish airline’s headquarters in Warsaw. Pursuant thereto, JAL Cargo will represent LOT in Japan, offering the cargo space available on LOT’s Dreamliners. JAL Cargo will also handle the cargo carried on LOT’s planes once these reach Tokyo’s Narita airport. LOT Cargo and JAL Cargo will be also offering cargo space on other routes they serve.

“In a few months’ time, LOT will offer the quickest and the most efficient way to travel between Japan and New Europe – not only to passengers. The new connection will offer great advantages for entrepreneurs too, as starting from January, they will be able to ship their goods between various airports in Japan and Central Europe easier and quicker. According to today’s figures, Japan’s export to Poland equals EUR 1.1 billion, while imports exceed EUR 1.5 billion per year. It is a huge potential that we are dealing with. So, we are even more delighted to be able to establish cooperation with such a renowned and experienced partner as JAL Cargo. By commencing cooperation with JAL Cargo, we intend to provide our customers with the highest standard of air cargo services. We do expect that the supply chains of our numerous logistics partners will be optimized as well” – says Mariusz Kuczek, LOT Cargo Director.

„It is our great honor to announce today, that Japan Airlines has been appointed as Cargo GSA for LOT Polish Airlines in Japan (Territory). We are confident that JAL can provide the best service to LOT Polish Airlines and to customersin Japan, by utilizing JAL’sextensive sales network and experienced staff. As JAL does not have its own network from Japan to Poland nor Central and Eastern Europe, it is also our pleasure that we can offer LOT’s high quality non-stop service from Narita to Warsaw, along with LOT’smassive network to Central and Eastern Europe. Moreover, by connecting LOT’s network with JAL’s variety of routes and services to/from cities in China and the other Asian countries. LOT and JAL can greatly contribute not only to the provision of smooth air cargo service to customers in both regions and beyond, but also to the development of the economies between two countries. We are striving to meet the wide variety of logistic needs from our customers”- adds Tsuyoshi Yamamura, Executive officer Cargo & Mail, Japan Airlines.

One of LOT’s Dreamliners will depart for the first flight between Warsaw and Tokyo on 13 January 2016. The cargo space is already available for sale on all markets served by LOT. For more details please visit http://www.lot.com/pl/en/cargo
