During this summer season, travelers will have an opportunity to go to a total of 105 direct flight destinations from Riga Airport. Several new flight routes to popular holiday destinations in southern Europe are expected; connectivity with the Balkan region will increase. With the beginning of the summer season, Riga Airport will become a base airport for Norwegian, while flydubai will this autumn supplement the range of airlines operating at the RIX Riga Airport.

The largest range of novelties for summer flights from Riga is offered by the national airline airBaltic, which will launch flights to Ljubljana at the end of April, and to Tirana, Sofia, Skopje, Chisinau and Pristina in the first week of May. At the end of October, with the next winter season, airBaltic will start regular flights to Madeira; charter flights were previously available to this destination from Riga.

With the opening of the base, Norwegian will expand its network of direct flight routes from Riga Airport; in addition to the already popular flights to Oslo, Stockholm, Copenhagen and Trondheim, the airline will offer direct flights to the leisure destinations of Tivat and Corfu.

British Airways, after a successful winter, will continue flights between Riga and Heathrow Airport in London in the summer as well.

As of October, flydubai will join the airlines operating at Riga Airport to offer travelers flights between Riga and Dubai three times a week. Thus, 21 airlines will work at Riga Airport, providing direct connections with 44 countries around the world.

In general, the number of regular and charter flights will increase by five percent at Riga Airport, as compared to the summer season of the previous year, with airlines operating up to 1 200 passenger flights every week.

The flight frequency of airBaltic will increase by 16 departing flights per week, which will mainly be facilitated by new destinations. The Irish low-cost airline Ryanair will double the number of flights on the Riga–Stockholm route this summer – from six to 12 flights per week and will also increase the frequency of flights to Dublin, Krakow and Rome. Uzbekistan Airways will provide four flights weekly between Riga and Tashkent, which is one of the busiest flight routes; previously, there were three flights a week. The number of flights operated by the Polish airline LOT from Riga to Warsaw will also increase by two (16 times a week); Lufthansa will offer 16 flights between Riga and Frankfurt instead of the previous 14 flights.

The summer flight season usually starts with the transition to summer time, which this year takes place on the night of March 30 to 31.

We encourage passengers whose flights are scheduled for March 31 to carefully plan their arrival time at the Airport, as the clocks will have to be turned forward one hour.
