As of Wednesday, 1 June, the Norwegian airline will start regular flights up to three times a week on the route Riga – Trondheim. Flights are planned throughout the summer season, providing Baltic passengers with a regular connection from Riga to the third largest city in Norway and an exciting tourist destination.
Norwegian has been operating at Riga Airport since the end of 2005 and currently offers flights from Riga to Oslo five to nine times a week, to Stockholm three to six times a week and to Copenhagen two to four times a week.
"By adding Trondheim to these three existing destinations, the airline is returning to the number of destinations and the frequency of flights from Riga as it was before the pandemic in 2019. Passengers will have access to four flight routes that connect the Baltics with important tourist and business travel destinations in Scandinavia,” says Laila Odiņa, Chairperson of the Board of Riga Airport.
The airline has carried a total of 2.2 million passengers to and from Riga during these years, operating more than 16 thousand scheduled flights. Last year, the number of passengers served by Norwegian in Riga reached 48.6 thousand passengers.
Trondheim returns to the airline’s list of scheduled flights after the disruption caused by the pandemic and individual flights operated at the turn of the year.
The national airline airBaltic also operates two flights weekly from Riga to Trondheim.
