According to preliminary data on the company performance, this January–October, RIX Riga Airport handled 6 million passengers, which is 5 % more than in the corresponding ten months of 2023. In October, 667 thousand passengers used Riga Airport for their trips, which is 7 % more than last October. The number of direct passengers last month exceeded 531 thousand, which is 6 % more than in 2023, and 8 % more than in 2019. The number of direct passengers in Riga has also increased in the first ten months of the year, both compared to 2023 (+5 %) and 2019 (+2 %).

Laila Odiņa, Chairperson of the Board of RIX Riga Airport commented: “We are achieving strong results in direct passenger numbers, even surpassing pre-pandemic levels. This success is primarily driven by Riga Airport's extensive route network – the widest in the Baltics – which caters to the diverse needs and preferences of travellers, serving both leisure and business destinations.”

This winter season, 11 airlines will operate direct flights to and from Riga Airport, with over 80 direct destinations available – an increase of 13 destinations compared to last winter. Riga Airport is expected to serve over 7 million passengers in 2024, marking a 6 % increase from 2023. The TOP5 destinations from Riga this year are London, Helsinki, Oslo, Stockholm, and Tallinn.

Since the beginning of this year, the Airport has handled 53.1 thousand flights. Compared to last year, the number of passenger flights has risen by 3 %, while air cargo flights have seen a 2 % increase during this period.
