Cambridge City Airport is sponsoring a new award category in memory of Sir Michael Marshall CBE DL, who passed away in July.
The new Sir Michael Marshall Award for Diversity recognises effort to promote diversity and accessibility within the aviation industry.
“Sir Michael was a guiding light in the aviation industry, with a passion for making careers in aviationaccessible for all, which is why we want to honour him with an award in his name to celebrate others whofollow his example,” said Cambridge City Airport Director, Kevan Craske.
The annual Air Charter Association Excellence Awards recognise achievements in a number of categories within the air charter business, including Passenger and Cargo Operators, Handling Agents and Aircraft Manufacturer.
Sir Michael Marshall was a true entrepreneur, an avid and vastly experienced pilot and a champion of developing and nurturing skills and talent in young people across all areas of society.
He was one of the industry’s most well-known and loved leaders and his legacy lives on through the hundreds of former Marshall apprentices now working in the aviation industry.
The awards are currently open for nominations and will be presented at a ceremony at the Guildhall in London on 16 October.
