Bond Offshore Helicopters, part of the Babcock Mission Critical Services business, has launched an entirely new service which will take passengers to offshore Oil and Gas facilities in the Northern North Sea from Aberdeen via new facilities at Sumburgh Airport, Shetland.

Thanks to an agreement with partners at LoganAir, Bond can now transport hundreds of passengers a week from Aberdeen Airport to Sumburgh on a fixed-wing aircraft before transferring them to offshore facilities via helicopter. Although each passenger will travel on two aircraft, they will only need to check in once as the entire journey will be managed from Bond's Aberdeen terminal.

The inaugural flight took place last week (December 7). Since then more than 250 passengers have already flown on the new route.

Bond Offshore Helicopters' managing director, Michelle Handforth, said: “Opening this new route is the culmination of a huge amount of hard work and dedication from our teams in Aberdeen and Sumburgh. This service will provide the flexible, efficient but above all safe operations that our customers demand and expect in today's challenging market.”
