Garmin has introduced the option to its Garmin Pilot app to file flight plans directly with Lockheed Martin Flight Services. The option is part of several improved flight-plan filing capabilities that Garmin has developed for Garmin Pilot. The new option increases flexibility and provides for instantaneous flight plan delivery with Garmin Pilot iOS and Android customers, Garmin said.
Garmin has also redesigned the Trip Planning page for Garmin Pilot iOS. The Trip Planning page enables pilots to view specific details regarding their flight plan and display details pertaining to their flight in navigation log format. A weather brief icon within the Trip Planning page provides access to textual weather products including: Sigmets, Airmets, Metars, TAFs and pireps.
Garmin further has enhanced the Android user interface, which the company now reflects a “navigation drawer” with split-screen menu items and easier access to pertinent information in flight.
Additionally, Garmin Pilot automatically will generate a chart binder for all en route airports within an active flight plan. Garmin further has added multiple-page scratch pad options, nighttime SafeTaxi diagrams and VirbXE Integration.
