GlobeAir is building a maintenance hangar at Linz Airport

GlobeAir is well-known award-winning ad-hoc charter airline and market leader in the 'light jets' segment in Europe. Due to the ongoing pandemic and the associated restrictions in commercial aviation, the business with private charter flights is experiencing increased demand and is considered a guarantee of punctuality, flexibility and stress-free travel. Own hangar for maintenance operations at Linz Airport

In order to meet the fleet availability due to the constantly increasing customer demand and to optimize ongoing maintenance costs, GlobeAir, the majority owner Friedrich Huemer and the CEO and co-owner Bernhard Fragner decided to build a hangar for the company's maintenance operations at Linz Airport. Planning has already started and the contracts with Flughafen Linz GesmbH were signed in June, so that construction of the facility can begin in spring 2023.

Markus Achleitner, Economic Provincial Councilor Upper Austria, satetd: “The need-to-fly company segment is becoming more and more important. With the settlement of GlobeAir, both the infrastructure and the range of services at Linz Airport will be significantly increased and another step taken in the direction of expanding the portfolio at the airport.” 

Construction project

On the 3,250 m² site leased by Flughafen Linz GesmbH, which is located near the former charter car park 2, a maintenance hangar with ancillary buildings including workshops, parts storage and administrative premises will be built. In addition to the construction of the taxiway and the apron, various supply lines for district heating, water, waste water, electricity and data lines are being provided by Linz Airport.

Klaus Luger, Mayor of the City of Linz, commented: "It is a very positive development that at Linz Airport, in addition to the continuous optimization of the areas of passenger transport, freight and maintenance operations, the infrastructure at the airport is now being sustainably expanded with the new GlobeAir hangar project and jobs are being created at the same time." 

Looking to the future, short distances, high safety standards, guaranteed flights and flexible structures will continue to be in demand. In addition, many direct airline connections have been canceled or significantly reduced, especially at small and regional airports. This also increases demand for short-haul flights. Over the past 14 years, GlobeAir has perfected the “ad-hoc-on-demand” air taxi business model and scores with valuable advantages such as efficiency, time flexibility, security and privacy.
