Today the Long-range aviation of the Russian Aerospace Forces celebrates its 101st anniversary.

At the present time the Long-range aviation is equipped with strategic missile-carrying aircraft Tu-160 and Tu-95MS, long-range bombers Tu-22M3, air tankers Il-78(M), special purpose aircraft A-30B, air transports An-12, An-26, as well as Mi-8 and Mi-26 helicopters.

This year, crews of the Long-range aviation have been performing flights every month according to the plan of combat patrol in different areas of the world including the water zones of the Pacific, North and Atlantic Ocean.

Along with that, military pilots took part in all large-scale exercises including Center-2015 and Combat commonwealth-2015 as well as unannounced combat readiness inspections. They launched cruise missiles, performed bombing as well as played roles of control targets for air defence systems.

Crews of the Long-range aviation have performed combat tasks in the Syrian Arab Republic making missile and bomb strikes on the ISIS infrastructure.

Within the implementation of the State Defence Order 2015, formations and units of the Long-range aviation have received new and modernized aircraft of all modifications.
