A contract for delivery of four Yak-130 operational trainers to Belarus was signed at MAKS-2015 airshow.
On August 26th Belarusian Ministry of Defense and Irkut Corporation signed a contract for delivery of four Yak-130 operational trainers at MAKS-2015 international airshow. The jets will be delivered to Belarus in 2016.
The document was signed by the head of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Belarus, Alexander Shevchenko, and Irkut Corporation President, Oleg Demchenko.
In April 2015 Irkut Corporation delivered the first batch of Yak-130 jets to Belarus under a contract signed in 2013. A group of Belarusian flight instructors was trained to operate Yak-130 jets with the participation of test-pilots of Irkut Corporation.
During military exercises Yak-130 jets demonstrated high accuracy while destroying training targets, using different weapons, including “smart bombs”. High combat effectiveness of Yak-130 jet has been once again confirmed.
Commander-in-Chief of Belarusian air forces and air defense forces, Major General Oleg Dvigalev, said: «We are going to complete training of Lida airbase’s personnel this year in order to prepare them for operation of Yak-130 jets. It is obvious that this aircraft allows us to train personnel at a new level and also carry out combat missions».
