This year's Singapore Airshow came to a close on Sunday (Feb 21) after drawing more than 80,000 public visitors over the past two days.

The first day the show opened to the public saw about 40,000 visitors.

Dropping by to see the hardware on display was President Tony Tan Keng Yam, Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong and Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean.

Describing aviation as "an industry of the future", Mr Teo said the biennial airshow continues to play an important role in Singapore's goal to become an aviation hub.

"It's an opportunity for Singaporeans themselves to come and look at what that future is - both in commercial aviation, in the industry and as well as in defence,” he said. “And I'm very happy that it also provides a platform for companies from around the world and our friends from around the world to come here and make connections."

Visitors on Sunday were treated to the sight of the massive B-52 Stratofortress, while aerobatic displays by South Korea's Black Eagles (ROKAF) and the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) continued to wow the crowd.
