Elite Flight Academy announced it has opened the application period for its first Student Pilot Scholarship. Valued at $15,000, the scholarship enables a high school student the chance to become a private pilot, covering up to 75 hours of training plus materials.

Elite Flight Academy is sponsoring the scholarship for high school students aged 16-18. The application is available at www.eliteflightacademy.com and must be submitted by Oct. 15.

Corey Johnson, Operations Manager, commented: “We believe in helping the next generation of pilots to achieve their aviation dreams. Elite Flight Academy works to ensure our pilots are receiving the best possible training, while having a place to meet with and gain experience from other pilots.”

The scholarship includes 50 hours of flight training, 20 hours of ground training, and five hours of simulator training – all of which will take place at Elite Flight Academy’s location at Davidson County Airport. In addition, all training materials such as books, videos, headset, etc., are included.

The recipient of the scholarship will be announced on Oct. 31, 2022, on Elite Flight Academy’s website and Facebook page.

The FAA requires at least 40 hours of flight training to receive a private pilot certificate, and the national average for completing the training is 60-70 hours over the course of several months. After receiving their initial certificate, pilots can continue training and receive instrument and multi-engine ratings as well as commercial and airline transport pilot licenses.

Elite Flight Academy offers flight instruction in advanced, modern aircraft that meets the FAA requirements for Technically Advanced Aircraft (TAA). Its training fleet includes a brand new Piper Pilot 100i with the latest Garmin avionics; a Piper Cherokee 180; a Citabria, which is available for tailwheel endorsement, aerobatics, or spin training; and a new Redbird simulator.
