Lufthansa Technik expands the availability of its Cyclean Engine Wash solution in the Asia Pacific region. GMR Aero Technic will perform engine core wash services for commercial aircraft as a service partner on behalf of Lufthansa Technik at the Kempegowda International Airport in Bangalore, starting in Q4, 2024. The first customer to benefit from the service in India is already confirmed.
Preparation for the premiere of Cyclean Engine Wash in Bangalore is in full swing. Launching the services for commercial aircraft engines in India in Q4, 2024, customers will be able to have all common engine types for both narrow- and widebody aircraft washed by GMR Aero Technic, utilizing the efficient system developed by Lufthansa Technik. The first customer at the airport of the third-largest city in the country will be SmartLynx Airlines. The Latvian charter and cargo operator – already using Cyclean in Europe – also leases aircraft to IndiGo Airlines.
Ashok Gopinath, President at GMR Aero Technik, commented: “We are extremely delighted to be partnering with Lufthansa Technik on providing engine wash services in Bangalore, and most importantly, the journey has only just begun, as the core focus is to provide this service in as many airports as possible. We are looking forward to this wonderful relationship.”
Feliks Wandt, Head of Engine Life Cycles Services at Lufthansa Technik stated: “We are pleased to have partnered with GMR Aero Technic, allowing us to expand our global network and soon offer our revolutionary engine washing technology, Cyclean, in India. This is also great news for airlines operating at the international airport in Bangalore, as they will be able to wash their engines quickly and most efficiently using our system.”
Due to the high demand in the fast-growing Indian market, GMR Aero Technic and Lufthansa Technik intend to expand the supply of Cyclean services to additional Indian airports soon. Cyclean Engine Wash is already available at more than 60 locations worldwide. With patented technology, Cyclean Engine Wash services offer efficient and sustainable washes, reducing water consumption by 50 % compared to conventional methods, completing washes in under 45 minutes, and eliminating the need for post-engine wash run-ups.
