magniX announced its next generation Samson battery will be powered by its new industry-leading 400 Wh/kg cell, developed in collaboration with its cell partner. The higher energy density will expand the scope of missions for electric aircraft and widen non-aerospace applications for magniX batteries in defense, industry, energy storage, and marine.
magniX launched its Samson battery range in June 2024 with the Samson300. Samson batteries have been developed with the benefit of magniX’s extensive experience in electric flight and offer unrivalled energy density and cycle life as well as patented safety features. Designed for ease of integration, they are ideally suited for use in electric airplanes, helicopters, and eVTOLs as well as high-end applications in defense, industry, energy storage, and marine.
The Samson300 is on display at the Paris Air Show, where magniX is exhibiting its full electric powertrain for aircraft for the first time alongside a model of its groundbreaking high speed HeliStorm engine for electric helicopters.
The future of battery technology
Reed Macdonald, CEO of magniX commented: “This significant breakthrough in energy density will extend the range and payload of electric aircraft, further enhancing the strong commercial case for electric flight, while also widening the use cases for our battery technology. With our fully-integrated electric powertrains for aircraft, our new HeliStorm engine for electric helicopters, and continuing swift improvements in our Samson battery product, magniX remains the industry leader in cutting-edge electric technology.”
Riona Armesmith, CTO at magniX said: “Achieving this breakthrough is a major step forward in one of the world’s most important areas of technology. Our Samson battery product is establishing itself as the go-to choice both for aerospace and for other high-end applications that require exceptional energy density, safety features, reliability, and long cycle life.”
