PAL-V has reached a major milestone for its production readiness. The RDW, the Netherlands Vehicle Authority responsible for the approval and oversight of vehicles, has granted PAL-V its Initial Assessment, officially recognizing PAL-V as a certified automotive manufacturer. This approval enables PAL-V to produce type‑certified, road‑legal vehicles at its manufacturing facility in the Netherlands in accordance with European automotive standards.

The Initial Assessment confirms that PAL-V has adequately documented and implemented the measures, quality controls, and procedures under the European Conformity of Production (CoP) requirements. This approval is essential for any manufacturer aiming to produce road-legal vehicles, and a foundational requirement for PAL-V’s unique FlyDrive platform.

PAL-V is pioneering a manufacturing approach that meets the stringent certification requirements of both the automotive and aviation industries combined. While the RDW focuses on the automotive side, it is also a crucial building block to obtain Production Organisation Approval for aviation.

Mike van den Broek, COO at PAL-V commented: “We are proud to pass this important milestone. This achievement demonstrates our commitment to the highest standards in quality, safety, and production integrity. It brings us another step closer to delivering our FlyDrive vehicles to customers worldwide”.

PAL-V has grown its customer base beyond private buyers, attracting professional and government sectors. They recognise the PAL-V Liberty’s unmatched flexibility, operational efficiency, and cost- effectiveness. Unlike human-transporting drones or other flying vehicles, PAL-V’s FlyDrive technology seamlessly integrates air and road travel, where pilots and passengers can benefit from true door-to-door mobility.

With the Initial Assessment granted, PAL-V continues to advance toward full-scale industrial production of its FlyDrive vehicles. It reaffirms its leadership position in the big new industry, Advanced Air Mobility (AAM), in China called “Low Altitude Economy” and by strategists expected to be the next economic wave following AI.
