The development of the new Do228 NXT by the German aircraft manufacturer General Atomics AeroTec Systems is progressing well. The new batch is based on the existing Dornier 228 with glass cockpit and is further optimized and upgraded. The production of the wing of the Do228 NXT has started successfully - an important milestone for the company. Following the start of the fuselage production with the manufacturer Potez Aéronautique in France, GA-ATS in Oberpfaffenhofen is also making great progress in the in-house production of complex components.

Erik Bollen, Managing Director of General Atomics AeroTec Systems, commented: "The start of production of the wing for the new Do228 NXT marks an important milestone for General Atomics AeroTec Systems. Our dedicated team has worked hard to achieve this. We look forward to manufacturing the Next Generation of the Do228 here in Oberpfaffenhofen and providing our customers with a modern and versatile aircraft."

The Do228 NXT development team has successfully milled and measured the first prototype panel for the wings. Following the satisfying results of the prototype, production of the first series panel has now started. Critical raw materials and system components for final assembly have already been acquired. For the company, it is not only a matter of developing and establishing a European supply chain, but also of utmost importance expanding production and final assembly capabilities within the company.

For the Do228 NXT, the production of the control surfaces, as well as the final assembly of the wing itself and ultimately the assembly of the entire aircraft, will take place at the company’s premises in Oberpfaffenhofen. The focus is on establishing a stable supply chain primarily focusing on German and European suppliers. This also underlines the quality standards of GA-ATS. The planning for the assembly of the wing has already been completed and preparations are in the final stages. The necessary tools and equipment have been measured, set up and are now awaiting the first panels to be assembled.

With the Do228 NXT, GA-ATS is developing the Next Generation of the legendary Do228. The aircraft is popular worldwide for its versatility in passenger transportation, cargo transport and special mission flights. In addition, the Do228 has special flight characteristics, such as short take-off and landing capabilities. The Do228 NXT is a modern version of the aircraft combining established and proven elements with the latest technology.
