TsAGI aerodynamics continues to research a promising medium-transport, two-fuselage aircraft. It is a cargo-capable aircraft for loads up to 40 tons, including outside, under-the-wing loads. These aircraft can be used as spacecraft carriers. The project is being developed within the framework of the State program “Development of the aviation industry for 2013-2025.”

TsAGI held small subsonic wind tunnel experiments which were aimed at determining the aircraft model control response (the ruddervator). The tests were conducted at cruising configuration with an air flow speed up to 50 m/s. The Institute specialists obtained the model aerodynamic characteristics with different combinations of elevator input and rudder input. The data bank to develop the aircraft controlling system will be developed on the basis of these results.

In addition, TsAGI scientists studied the outside cargo under-the-wing influence on the effectiveness of the rudder. The tests showed a slight impact which does not require any changes to the aerodynamic configuration design.
