Venezuela took delivery of the first batch of Buk-M2E air defense systems on a wheeled chassis, a source close to military attaché told TASS at MAKS-2015 airshow.
“The first batch of Buk-M2E air defense systems on a wheeled chassis has already been delivered to Venezuela,” the source said. He added that the country placed one more order for the systems. He didn’t unveil the number of the systems delivered to the country saying that “several divisions” were handed over to the customer.
“The division has 72 guided surface-to-air missiles,” he said. According to the product’s specification, the division comprises five or six transporter erector launchers and radars (TELARs), one command post, one target locator and up to 12 launchers.
“The air defense systems delivered to Venezuela have the same designation as the ones operated in Russia,” the source added.
