VAS Aero Services, a global leader in aviation logistics and aftermarket services, reported today that it has named VAS’ Chief Commercial Officer and distinguished aviation industry executive Tommy Hughes as the Florida-based company’s new Chief Executive Officer and shareholder.

A prominent and longtime professional with decades of experience in aviation and aerospace, Mr. Hughes joined VAS in 2007, leading the company’s marketing and sales efforts through a period of unprecedented growth. During his tenure, the VAS global logistics network has expanded to include marketing and sales offices in the United Kingdom, serving Europe, the Middle East and Africa; and Singapore, supporting the Asia-Pacific region. In his new role, Mr. Hughes assumes command of all business operations and responsibility for the company’s strategic vision and overall direction.

Prior to joining VAS, Mr. Hughes worked with Delta Airlines’ Tech Ops, where he led engine maintenance and test cell operations for Delta and third-party customers. His decades-long aviation career includes executive management positions in production and engine overhaul services, parts manufacturing, business operations and, in particular, international sales and marketing. During his tenure at Tech Ops, Mr. Hughes helped growMRO third-party activities from a $50M operation to over $500M in revenue, while extending their landscape of global customers.

“With over 20 years of senior leadership success, and an intimate knowledge of VAS, its people and its customers, Tommy Hughes is uniquely qualified to lead VAS Aero Services,” said VAS Executive Chairman Adi Bernstein. “His combination of industry-wide business relationships, proven leadership ability and understanding of the VAS mission on implementing our OEM aftermarket strategy will ensure that VAScontinues to set the pace in the aviation aftermarket.”

Commenting on his appointment, new CEO Tommy Hughes said, “I am excited to begin my expanded role and lead the VAS Aero Services team to an even stronger global market position. There are new ventures to pursue and much to be done, and with the support of the industry’s greatest team of professionals here atVAS, I am confident that VAS will remain the ‘Best Partner’ in the aviation logistics and aftermarket parts business for customers worldwide.”
