Air Taxi  has marked a historic milestone in regional aviation by achieving unprecedented daily utilization of its Tecnam P2010 TDI aircraft fleet. Since August 2023, Air Taxi has deployed 8 Tecnam P2010 TDI aircraft across India’s underserved regions under the Government of India’s UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik) scheme. These state-of-the-art aircraft have been flying an average of 11 hours a day, seven days a week, making Air Taxi the largest daily operator of the Tecnam P2010 TDI in the world.

Varun Suhag, Managing Director of Air Taxi commented: “Air Taxi’s Tecnam P2010 TDI aircraft sliced through the morning mist, carrying dreams and destinations to remote corners of India. Since August 2023, we’ve been on a mission to connect the unconnected, bridging gaps and driving real progress. With each flight, we’re not just carrying passengers – we’re carrying the promise of a better-connected India.”

Walter Da Costa, Chief Sales Officer of Tecnam stated: We are extremely proud of Air Taxi’s outstanding operational achievement. Their success with the P2010 TDI is a perfect example of how modern, efficient aircraft can empower sustainable regional air connectivity. Air Taxi’s commitment proves that aviation can be both impactful and responsible.”

Tecnam P2010 TDI has proven to be a game changer in regional aviation, offering exceptional payload capacity, fuel economy, cruise speed, and passenger comfort. As a training organization (ATO/FTO) and a scheduled regional operator, Air Taxi is uniquely positioned to maximize the utility and reach of this next-generation single-engine aircraft.

Tecnam P2010 TDI operates with an average fuel consumption of just 5.2 U.S. gallons per hour (approximately 19.7 litres/hour). Given Air Taxi’s daily utilization of 11 hours per aircraft, each unit consumes around:

  • 57.2 U.S. gallons/day

  • 216.7 litres/day

  • 1,716 U.S. gallons/month

  • 6,500 litres/month

In contrast, a conventional 4-seat single-engine aircraft using 100LL fuel typically consumes 10.5 U.S. gallons/hour (around 40 litres/hour), which under the same usage results in:

  • 115.5 U.S. gallons/day

  • 437.2 litres/day

  • 3,465 U.S. gallons/month

  • 12,540 litres/month

This results in a fuel saving of approximately 1,749 U.S. gallons (6,040 litres) per aircraft per month — an impressive 50% reduction, directly translating into lower operational costs and significantly reduced carbon emissions. Air Taxi’s high-frequency operations are bringing tangible change — from enabling farmers to access wider markets, to helping students and professionals reach new educational and economic opportunities, to reuniting families across states. Every takeoff tells a story. And as these aircraft soar through the skies, they carry more than passengers — they carry India’s aspirations for inclusive connectivity, sustainable aviation, and empowered rural economies.
