Safran Helicopter Engines and Helicopteres Guimbal announced exclusive partnership to power the GrandCabri G5. This new helicopter will be powered with the 450 shp Arrius 2D, a new variant of the Arrius engine family. By choosing the Arrius, Helicopteres Guimbal has selected a highly popular engine on the market for light single and twin-engine helicopters.

Arrius 2D inherits the best technologies from the Arrius family: designed around a proven gas generator that guarantees a high level of maturity at entry into service and featuring specific integration with the G5, it will also reduce the pilot's workload thanks to its dual-channel FADEC . It will have a Time between Overhaul (TBO) of 3,000 hours at entry into service. Future G5 users will also benefit from Safran Helicopter Engines' service offering and its global support network.

Bruno Guimbal, Helicopteres Guimbal President and CEO commented: “We are very satisfied and proud of having gained Safran trust in our GrandCabri program. We wanted an engine that would match our modern and safe helicopter technology. TheGrand Cabri G5 is designed to bridge the gap between our Cabri G2, recognized as the best trainer for larger, multi-bladed helicopters pilots, and the most popular multi-mission single turbine helicopters.  With its outstanding reliability, dual-channel FADEC, the Arrius is the perfect engine for the mission. We are very excited about this new helicopter, and many operators are as well. It will form a seamless family of modern helicopters for the future civilian and military missions.”

Cédric Goubet, Safran Helicopter Engines CEO stated: "We are particularly pleased to be able to enter into this partnership with Helicopteres Guimbal to power the new GrandCabri G5, their first turbine-powered helicopter. With the Arrius engine, Guimbal has chosen a proven and reliable propulsion solution with a high level of maturity at entry into service."

With more than 4,400 engines delivered to 430 customers in 60 countries and more than 14 million flight hours, the Arrius family covers a power range from 450 to 750 shp and is designed for the single and twin-engine light helicopter market. This is a family of engines whose maturity and robustness have been largely demonstrated in operation.

Simple in design, robust and renowned for its unrivaled operating and maintenance costs, the Arrius has become over the last 30 years one of the most popular engines for light, single and twin-engine helicopters. It is the number one choice for operators carrying out demanding missions, such as air medical transport (EMS), police and parapublic services, search and rescue, or military training.
